Dread Templar, new indie fps game review

Dread Templar, developed by T19 Games, is a new indie old school shooter. Dread Templar reminds me of games like Quake 3 and similar retro old school games. This game surprised me when I played it. Fast paced controls, challenging enemies and soo much more to tuckle on your journey through the campaign. For today, we will tackle this gem in the fast fps genre. This is Joey on the GamerFlux indie blog. Dread Templar is generally a fast paced high octane speed FPS indie game inspired by the classic DOOM. The game uses the aesthetics of old retro games like classic DOOM and so much more, though Dread Templar is made a more modernish look overall. Dread Templar is an indie game meaning it was made with a small team and limited budget. Yet all of this, the game just impressed with the fluency in the game. Firstly, the tutorial is really good and fun. It helped me at least to get the controls of the game. The mechanics of the game kinda reminds me of DOOM 3/2016. The game generally utilises ...

TheoTown, an indie java city builder like SimCity

TheoTown developed by Lobby Divinus is an indie city building game that reminds us of a true gem of SimCity 4. From the looks in the game local files, this looks like the game is built around java. It amazed me how an indie game resembles the SimCity appearance and somewhat controls. TheoTown is an indie technical feat in the city building genre and we will tackle this one here today on GamerFlux. TheoTown is a great indie game for the people who loved the classic gem of SimCity. It just great indie game with a lot of customization. The looks were somewhat pixelated as a result of a java engine, but it didn’t prevent me from having so much fun building the city of my dreams and try to fix problems that arise with it. The game is small in size s around 150 MB which is good compared with 4 GB SimCity. This is a java indie game like minecraft so mostly work on any PC with 4 GB RAM flawlessly. The game mechanics are fun. The AI in the system is not bad and seems live. The feedback is great...

Nuclear Blaze review!

Nuclear Blaze is a new platformer game with a fun mechanism about fire fighting in retro filters. Nuclear Blaze is developed by the same creators of the Dead Cells 'Deepnight Games'. The game has a lot of crazy stuff even with a CRT visual like filter. Today we will tackle Nuclear Blaze, because after 10 mins in, I was unable to stop playing the game. This is Joey and this is Nuclear Blaze on GamerFlux. Nuclear Blaze is a 2D story about a group of fire fighters who got dispatched to a fire in a forest. While you, a fire fighter, trying to progress through the forest, you stumble upon a facility of some sort and it looks on fire. Following on your instinct, you go on and venture through the facility. You don't know anything about this facility as it looks to be hidden and unofficial to the government maps. That's all what I will say about the game story, want to know more? go play the game. The amount of intel placed in the game is good and informative, almost making you...

The Darkest Tales indie review!

We have discussed a lot about other indie metroidvania games. In the post about another great metroidvania game called Grime Colors of Rot read it here . In that post we took a deep dive in the definition of metroidvania genres in general. In a short sentence, metroidvania, based on the Metroid game series on the Nintendo Network, is a 2d platformer like dead cells, but with some exploration to do. These games really just doesn’t have the very clear distant direction in the game. You game an discover your ways through the maze of 2D platforming. Today we will take a deeper look into Darkest Tale, a sci-fi story about a small girl having what is called to be a sleep demons and fallen into the darkness. A light fairy is a friend of the child and wants to help her, so she gets the help she needs from a stuffed bear toy, Alicia the young kid used to play with. This is just the beginning intro of the game. I was surprised actually of how the game had so many animations and cutscenes, and th...

Sail Forth, an indie waterway adventure made by a one man studio

SAIL FORTH indie game Sail Forth is a new indie game developed by a one man studio called Festive Vector (aka David Evans). The game is generally published by an indie supporter called Quantum Astrophysicist Guild. Sail Forth is a great indie game about sailing at the ocean. You have to start alone and then get new members and upgrade your ships and form a fleet. This game is looking interesting for many reasons and we here will tackle this game as an indie game. This Joey and this is Sail Forth. Sail Forth is a game about being the captain of a small ship in the middle of a huge ocean. You have a small ship that you can use to explore the deadly seas and get to meet the fishmen. Yes the people in this game are basically fishmen. The game relies on the exploration and interacting with the world. There are many things you can do in the game. Once we mentions oceans and seas, islands come to mind. Islands in these games have many variations. On one island, the people are happy and friend...

Koa and the five Pirates of Mara is upcoming indie game

Koa and the five pirates of Mara upcoming game Koa and The Five Pirates of Mara by Chibig, Talpa Games and Undercoders. This is a platformer game that reminds me of little big planet series. This game is actually an indie game. As it stands it has got the Best Platformer at the indie dev day 2022. As always this is Joey and this is Koa and the five pirates of Mara. Platformer games have defined a lot of good memories along many years. Because platformers have been since the game industry world began in the 1980s. Which I believe began with the first platformer of super Mario bros. This game paved the way for many years to come. Platformers have developed so much since then. We got the 3D into 2D platforms like metroidvania on the earlier Nintendo consoles as the WII. This was an unbelievable feat in 2005/6. Then came the Little Big Planet series on the PlayStation. This series paved the way for getting 3D elements into the platformer genre. Many games took the genre ahead after as the ...

RAIDBORN review indie game!

RAIDBORN review RAIDBORN is a indie cup finalist indie game developed by Phodex Studios. This game will be a FPS action adventure indie experience with great story and intuitive gameplay. Indie games have gotten a lot of the new levels in 2022 and 2023. This game is going to be a big bang in the indie game world. This game actually reminds me of an old 2007/2008 Hellgate: London. Where you make a character in a RPG form like and build your character along the way with your own choices and weapons. This is Joey and going on and on with RAIDBORN. RAIDBORN currently has an ich.io page and a steam page with a wonderful trailer encasing amazing gameplay. The game will include some trading NPCs and non-stoppable action. RAIDBORN has the artstyle of a game I played before called Gunfire Reborn, pretty sure you heard about this game. The game looks promising and has a lot of promises to achieve. There is said to be a 20 hour solo player campaign with a great yet simple story. There will be a ...

Lone Ruin indie Roguelite review!

A new indie roguelite under the microscope, Introducing Lone Ruin Lone Ruin is a new indie roguelite game developed by Cuddle Monster Games studio in the unity engine. Before we jump into the game, we need to understand what are roguelites first. Roguelikes games are games that utilize the mechanism of dungeon crawling, killing monsters and bosses along the way. After killing those monsters, you get to obtain better and stronger weapons. After that, you get into a new level/wave and get again to solve puzzles and so on. Roguelike games started since the old 1980s ASCI II games on old systems. Until the release of the game that changes the genre forever, Hades. Hades was a Rogue-LITE game. Where the dungeon crawling is there but it is procedurally generated, aka made random on every run. This gave the game a lot of diversity since every time you start to play the dungeon aka the world gets randomly generated. After Hades, the genre changed completely, with more roguelites are getting in...

CULTIC Review on the interrogation seat

CULTIC review What the trend of indie games is going?. a question many people are asking in the indie gaming world. But? why you ask?. Well, everyone wants to make a great game that is MEMORABLE for the players. Many games we play and finish, 2 months later we forget about them. That's why the indie gaming trend is going toward the retro pixel views that looks like the PS1. CULTIC by Jasozz Games is one of those games, but in a unforgettable way. Distinctive artstyle, compulsive rewarding shooting and the choice for playing the game the way you want, is what describes CULTIC. The game ticked a lot of boxes on my perfect game feature list. From a Action perspective, this game is a beast, enough to make you feel every bullet you shoot. That's why the game has got a lot of popularity among many other indie games on platforms like steam. First things first, the game on linux with a slower FPS than windows, if you want to know. But lowering down the setting a bit wasn't a proble...

SparkHunt gameplay review is here!

A big promise for a game, introducing SparkHunt SparkHunt is an indie upcoming game developed by Oleksandr Zapisochny in the indie game cup. The game is based on unreal engine. It is one of the more bizarre on the better side of gaming. Without further a do, let's jump on to it. This is Joey and this is SparkHunt. First things first, the game had a lot of poor performance on linux. I had to play it on windows with reasonable framerate to be able to enjoy it. Upon opening the game, it lead to a nice main menu, without a settings button. There was no tweakable settings in the game. Once I got into the first and only level, I noticed the tiny little bit of a story. A young woman suddenly spawns in an alley and get abducted by orcs. You venture through waves of those orcs to fight the boss and free the woman. The cutscene had no background music. There was some music in the gameplay though. You can pause to see the controls of the game. This indie game actually reminded me of street br...

Distant Bloom upcoming game review

Farming on space has got better with Distant Blooms Distant Blooms developed by Ember Trail is a great upcoming game. The game is about farming and building a small colony on a planet that you landed on with a great crash. Once you get out of the "Cryo-chamber", you realize that you are alone with a helping drone and need to search for your allies. With the only help of a small robotic drone and tools as scanner gun (reminds me of No Man's Sky) and you get to use more tools once you get to crafting and so on. This is Distant Bloom and with you, Joey. First things first, The game ran well on linux, no issues what so ever. There was only a problem with the intro video in the game as it was a black screen. But once the intro ends the game starts normally. The game had a catchy stylish art style and graphics. Its was very good and distinctive. It had great textures and good shaders from the technical view, and it didn't tax much on my PC. The only problem was that it was ...

Spongebob in 2023, Introducing Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake

Spongebob is getting a new game and feels fun, Introducing Spongebob and the Cosmic Shake Who doesn't love spongebob? none!. With new game releases coming in January, THQ nordic made the call to release a new spongebob game soon. This is Joey on GamerFlux and this is Spongebob SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. Spongebob games have evolved through the years. Games like Plankton's robotic revenge and others got released on consoles like the XBOX 360 or PS3, Nintendo WII or much more. There weren't much about PC in those ages. Not until Purple Lamp Streamline studios decided to make a new game for the people. They made a game I played myself and had a lot of fun. They made the 2020 release of Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. I have great memories about this game. It was a great experience to see Bikini Bottom in a 3D experience in Unreal Engine 4. The game had not so bad reviews, although it was fun for me as a spongebob fan. One thing to ment...

A cute assassins's creed with a bow is crazy, Introducing Cynthia Hidden in the Moonshadow by indie developer Tomasz "THdev" Hałajko

Cynthia is a great mix of assassins's creed stealth and puzzle bow action. Cynthia: Hidden in the Moonshadow is an upcoming 3rd person title developed by Tomasz "THdev" Hałajko. It is an upcoming indie title with a lot of promise. I have tried the demo on steam and the game is getting there as an AAA, with an indie dev. Indie games have developed along the last 5 years dramatically. This is joey, introducing Cynthia: Hidden in the Moonshadow. Once you dire up the demo, The game ran well on linux systems, using fedora linux. First thing that got me into the mood was the main menu music. It was great, it gave a great correct vibe to the game. The basic gameplay system heavily relies on the stealth in bushes (kinda remind me of blackflag) and puzzles on your way. Everything in the demo was great, well placed, and well planned. The intro of the game wasn't bad at all. In fact, it got me hooked from the start. There was a mini screen and a tutorial for giving you the contr...
