Your morals will be put to test with BLACKTAIL

What Focus Entertainment added to this game is awesome

If you like witch stories and myths of a haunted house at the middle of the forest, then this game is for you. Based on the Slavic myths of Baba Yaga, this game tried to do the impossible to give you, the gamer, an unforgettable experience. Pack up your bags, sandwiches and bag of water to set sail for your mind in the world of BLACKTAIL brought to you by PARASIGHT Studios, released on 15 December of 2022.

Wait! wait! up there, before we set ourselves into the jungles of the game, we need to do some debriefing about our mission, and the debriefing is of course about the myth of Baba Yaga. In the Slavic folklore (eastern Europe), there was a myth of an old witch that lives in the forest, that was one of 3 sisters, had legs that of chicken and always appeared in a donor or an evil role that was ambiguous. The witch's name was Baba Yaga. Okay! Why all of this story you ask?, the answer is simple, you play as Yaga the witch, that was knocked out of her village for practicing magical spells, which was prohibited. Alone in the forest, she wakes up, looks around and along with the tutorial, you, as Yaga, find a bow which will be your main weapon in fights. Wandering along the forest, you stumble upon a gauntlet that allows you to cast magic spells, which will also stick by your side along with the combat. Yaga now with all determination, sets on the adventure to find her friends and sister in the forest. Upon the first minutes of the game you discover that there are voices that talk to yaga since she woke up called by the name of "The Voice" that guides her through the forest to help her. If we mention a voice that talks within the head of yaga, then you will have an awesome narrative story with a lot of interactions with different elements and characters.

But what role does morals play a role here exactly? a simple answer is, the game changes along with your choices, and the choices are whether you are angry, and will be the Kratos of the forest, or be the guardian of the forest and protect it from evil creatures. All of this comes with a consequences on story and abilities that you can progress and open in the game. This system really looks like a nice addition that defined the game actually from many survival open world games. This really falls for the myths that the studios relied on as we mentioned earlier on the debrief of the mission, that Baba Yaga appeared to be an evil woman or a donor, that cared about the protection of the forest. You stumble upon many side quests, like any other open world game, but the morality system makes it unique, as your choice of helping some ants to save it from flesh eating plants of leaving them be eaten really shows what is your intent toward the forest, and for us gamers, this is fantastic. all of this through morality system affects how the story progress, and also the people you meet through the story changes based on your morality.

While you progress through the game and explore the forest, you get to see campfires that you can lit to get to save the game progress manually, cause the game autosaves only when you progress through the main quests only.  You also get introduced to the upgrade system and much more that i will not burn for you. The graphics looks amazing, at the same time not really taxing that much on PCs so you won't hear your graphics card coil whine through gameplay. and as an open world game, it also has some beautiful scenes to see by exploration.

The combat system of the game is a debate really. A bow and a space gauntlet, and a broom that you also get by progressing through the game with the different spells that you can use in the heat of the battle seems like a lot of fun really, but there is a down side for this though. Some reviewers of the game have reported some physics bugs when moving during action and arrows ghosting through the hit boxes of creatures. Otherwise, it is not broken, and it is still a lot of fun, and I believe the studio should have fixed it by now.
