  Brutal John, The Most Brutal Ever With the awesome comeback of the boomer shooter FPS genre into the scene, There are many studios entering the hall with big dreams and efforts, and today's game is a prime example. With the market starting to get the fun out of the fast paced games, many new indie studios are jumping into the scene for this genre, and many more are getting there quickly and efficiently thanks to the commercial game engine market. With Unreal Engine, Unity and the newest Godot Engine, most of indie games were made possible. REPLACED upcoming indie game review

REPLACED is crazy!

   Remember the Crime Boss: Rockay City post, when I said that game devs are moving toward the 80s and 90s aura? this one also hits it, but in a different taste. REPLACED amazed me for the simplicity. A 2.5D platformer with great graphics and compelling story. The game relies on low poly / 3D voxel style to deliver the aesthetics of the game, which was something new for me not gonna lie. The game environment is based on America in its prime neon age, the 1980s. You are a R.E.A.C.H, an AI entrapped inside a human body, living in a filthy corrupted society. That's all what we got on the story so far.

What makes this game different from others is its shape, graphics etc. This style the devs chose aids the environment and the story well. Along with graphics, the textures they used that is seen like in front of the world ,as the flowers in the upper screenshot, emerges you into the world. Flowers means that we are walking in a garden or agricultural land etc. Moving on with the aesthetics of the game to the environment. According to the currently released screenshots and trailer, the world looks live, and retro. This retro world gives some users a homecoming feel to the 80s. Neon lights, bars, motels, everything in the 80s is included in the world. From the trailer, there are some scenes with different people in the world you interact with, which gives me the impression to a factions? I don't know for sure, but if it is, this game is going to hit it big.

The Verdict

REPLACED is a great game. For me, The style is great, the story seems compelling and the world is just alive. Any game with those points is in my game list for sure. Right now there is no release date, but the devs say that it will be coming in 2023. We all should support the devs by wishlisting the game on steam and follow them on twitter.

RAIDBORN review RAIDBORN is a indie cup finalist indie game developed by Phodex Studios. This game will be a FPS action adventure indie experience with great story and intuitive gameplay.
